Atropolis – Jump | Album #8

It’s hard to be a “World Music” Fan. Apart from beating out Doo Wop of the race to probably the corniest genre name ever, it’s a genre you sometimes wish corny was its only problem musically. Atropolis on the other hand probably has sound grasp of more native musical traditions than my ethnomusicology professor and that is only on top of being a truly visionary DJ. On the EP Jump he collaborates with some true instrumental virtuosos to realize music that is simultaneously groundbreaking and genuinely rooted in no less than 4 different traditions …well 3 at any rate.
